Spyware threatens encryption and presents unique regulatory and security challenges for governments and citizens worldwide. Host Kellsie Herrmann sits down with Mike Sexton, an expert on technology and security policy at the think tank Third Way and SSP alumnus, to discuss spyware’s risks and opportunities as a surveillance tool and the future of spyware policy.

Mike Sexton is the Senior Policy Advisor for Cyber and AI at Third Way’s National Security Program. He was named to the inaugural “40 Under 40” cohort by the Middle East Policy Council at the age of 29 and is a member of Foreign Policy for America and the OODA Network. He is the lead editor of Cyber War & Cyber Peace, an anthology of expert essays on cyber conflict in the Middle East. He has guest lectured or led discussions at the Palestinian-American Chamber of Commerce, Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism, and the Harvard Arab Alumni Association. He is proficient in Arabic, Hebrew, and Spanish.

Mike holds an MA in Security Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service with a concentration in Technology and Security and a BA in Mathematics with a minor in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago.
